about
"Moth In a Fire" is Troy Kokol's follow-up single to his highly regarded, "Like A Record"; which was an Official Selection at the GIRAF 2020 international animation festival in Calgary, Alberta, nominated for Video of the Year at the Summer Solstice Indigenous Music Awards and nominated for both Video and Songwriter of the Year at the CMAB Awards and the YYC Music Awards in 2021. The multi-talented Calgary Indigenous artist wrote, recorded, and engineered Moth In a Fire, and later created the video entirely on his iPhone.
V1
Desperate times, desperate measures
On a cell, tangled up in chains
Filtered life, plastic treasures
It's so cotton candy in the rain
Pre
A Becky smile, she gets the likes
She can breathe for a moment, ‘ til the moment is gone
Caught in a light, she’s burned alive
Just a moth in a fire hot as the sun

Oooo, oo, oooo x 6
V2
Telling lies, selling memories
To a world, that she doesn’t know
Travels light, just her LG
Cause she’s really got no place to go
Pre
A Becky smile, she gets the likes
She can feel for a moment, ‘ til the moment is gone
Caught in a light, she’s burned alive
Just a moth in a fire hot as the sun
Ch Oooo, oo, oooo x 6
V3
In the dark, with her scars
Self-inflicted on her very own
She falls apart.
All the pieces on display for her final show
Pre
A Becky smile, she gets the likes
She held on for a moment, but the moment is gone
Caught in a light, she’s burned alive
Just a moth in a fire hot as the sun
Ch Oooo, oo, oooo x 6
